From the Principal’s Desk:
It was great to see so many of you out at the Back to School BBQ (and a big thank-you to Ladies Auxiliary for the food!). This is a time for you to get to know your child(ren)’s teachers and become familiar with ICS and other families as we start a new school year.
At the start of each year, we as teachers spend considerable time in creating a culture of learning in our building. This is far beyond “the rules”, and includes a focus on routines in and out of class, building learning habits, developing stamina and perseverance, and caring for each other. We hope to encourage a culture of learning, respect and fun as we find out more about God’s world and our place in it. Our everyday actions quickly become habits, which powerfully show what’s important, and what’s less important.
To that end, I’d seek your help as parents and first educators of your children in encouraging a Christian learning culture in our building and on our school grounds, both during and especially after school. After school, committees meet, sports teams have spectators, and other ICS community events take place. For these events, we rely on parental supervision of children in the building (either direct, or by making arrangements with older babysitting-age children). Consistent routines are powerful, and we’d expect that the same routines and expectations of school also apply after hours. We as staff would cherish your consideration in this area. Let’s together create a consistent Immanuel culture of learning, respect and fun!
in Christian education, Keith Cameron, Principal and Chief Operating Officer
Praying for our parents: Please join us as we pray for Jake & Tina Banman and Paul & Danielle Bierman.
Praying for our staff: Please pray for our Grade 1 teacher Ms. Pieters.

Greetings from the board! We are excited about our new school year and look forward to making this a terrific year together as a community! ... Bar of chocolate | by ...also a way of talking about our school! Great job to those students who have already sold their

boxes or got their activity fees in! We do have some extra boxes - please let the office know by

Bus Communication List: We encourage all families to sign up for a free service called Remind. To receive bus fan out messages via text,  text @icsbus to (226) 774-0016, or send an email to icsbus@mail.remind.com. You can opt-out of messages at anytime by replying, ‘unsubscribe@icsbus’ or reply with ‘unsubscribe” in the subject line. Remind is our primary means to inform you about non emergency events (snow days, bus break down, delays). In case of emergency transportation interruptions (breakdowns on route or accidents) the bus driver or principal will phone the first person in each block on the Bus Communication List. That person is then requested to phone the other people in their block promptly. If you get an answering machine, please leave a message, try again, and if no response, then call the school. If we cannot get in contact with you, your children will stay at or return to ICS.
We will test our Bus Communication List Monday September 19th at 5pm. List attached to end of Journal.

logo-lions-onWhite.jpgNew gym shirts! There have been many hands in the project based learning resulting in our new logo.
