From the Principal’s Desk:
So, what goes on during a Professional Activity day, you may wonder? As a teaching staff, we were blessed to spend an entire PA day last Friday focusing on two things. We spent time in team building, sharing our Myers-Briggs personality profiles that we learned about on our August staff retreat. God has made each and every student, and teacher, unique. We prefer to see the world in certain ways. Knowing that about each other, we can appreciate each other “at our best”, and know how we react “at our worst”, in the end, working more closely as a staff team.  We also spent time reflecting on each and every student's learning. We plotted our Measures of Academic Progress data for every child. We reflected on Luke 12:7, "the very hairs of your head are all numbered." In a much bigger way, God knows us in awesome detail, each and every hair on our heads is important enough to count. The data we have on our students’ learning growth is valuable for encouraging, supporting and honing our teaching plans. Parents, we look forward to connecting with you regarding your child’s learning at the upcoming parent-teacher conferences!

Library News: Do you have a public library card yet? As some classes will be looking at on-line resources over the next few weeks, it will be helpful if students have and know their public library card number (it may be a family card). Writing it in your planner means it is readily available!

From the Aylmer Public Library: Attention all students aged 10 and up - Do you like playing board games and meeting new people?  If so, visit the Aylmer Public Library next Monday, October 17th from 4-5:30pm to join in our Pre-teen Games Night.  Drop by and join in the fun - no registration required.  You provide the brains and we'll provide the games.  Hope to see you there!

High School Options. Grade 7 and 8 parents, you will be considering high school options for your child. One of those options is London District Christian High School, and we help make that an option through our bus routings. As a community centred around Christian education, we want to help all students and parents become familiar with LDCSS, and we want both parents and students to ask hard questions: What do I want from my high school? How is God honoured in my school? How do you pay for two tuitions at once? Is it really worth it? As part answer to those questions, there are two upcoming events:
  • We will encourage all grade 8 students, and allow all grade 7 students, to attend Grade 8 Day at LDCSS. LDCSS provides bus transport for this event. Parents are also invited to participate (even ride the bus if you want!).
  • Take advantage of the Dessert Evening Open House on Thursday, November 17 from 19:00-20:30 to find out more!
