NEW: Christian Schools Foundation (endowment): www.christianschoolfoundation.ca
From the Principal’s Desk:
Today is Grandparents’ and Senior Friends Day. As a Christian school, we place importance on the influence from one generation to the next, to the next. That influence may be through time spent with children and grandchildren, through talent (many on our volunteer list have children long since graduated!), and through treasure (our annual Drive is significantly funded by our seniors). In all those areas, we are blessed and our children are strengthened in their faith, character and learning.
In a similar vein, the ICS Board is honoured and delighted to receive a gift from the estate of Wytze and Janny Hiemstra! A $10,000 donation will establish the Immanuel Christian School Aylmer Arts Fund. Funds will be used to provide an annual grant through the Christian School Foundation (over 5 years) to develop and maintain programs in music, visual arts or drama. We feel that such a fund honours Wytze and Janny's love for and commitment to Christian education for their own family and for the ICS and LDCSS community over decades.  Wytze and Janny began their support for Immanuel (not only financially, but prayed continuously for students, staff and parents) before they had any children, and continued that support over the years as their four children, Margaret, Rick, Lynn and Charlie, grew and attended school. Many of their grandchildren also attended ICS. Wytze passed away on Jan 14, 2015, while Janny passed away on Aug 11, 2016.
As Psalm 145:4 declares, we are all blessed when "One generation commends your works to another; they tell of your mighty acts"! We gratefully acknowledge all our grandparents and senior friends, your influence is felt here at ICS!

Praying for our parents: Please join us as we pray for Frank & Rose Fehr and Neil & Laura Fehr.
Praying for our staff: Please pray for our Health & PE teacher Mr. TenBruggencate.
REMINDERS:
Tuition Reduction Incentive Plan (T.R.I.P): Next order sent out on Nov 2nd, due on the 10th with pickup on the 17th.
Chocolate Bars: If you still have money owing, please take care of this as soon as possible.
Reformation Day: As a Christian school community, we want to speak into all aspects of life. We also acknowledge that our convictions may lead to different decisions in how we act. One of these differences is Oct 31. As a school, we choose to recognize Reformation Day and Luther’s decision to pre-empt All Saints’ Day by nailing his 95 theses to the Wittenburg church door. We neither support nor condemn Halloween activities, leaving those decisions where they belong with parents. Knowing that sugar and food colouring make for poor learning, please ensure lunches are reasonably healthy next week still, and avoid sending in “extra” candy to share!

WOW! Thank you to the over 230 people who attended the first Friday Family Fun Night of the school year last week! A wonderful $702.98 profit was raised, over 70lbs of ham consumed, 90 cups of spiced cider enjoyed, and 20 pumpkins creatively carved. It was a great kickoff night, and we had a lot of fun. A special shout out to our amazing volunteers this month: Chantelle Bakker, Tina Hiebert, Victoria Krahn, Val Bokma, Nancy Robinson, Carrie Vis, Amanda Cameron, Cole Versnick, Caleb Krahn, Keith Sinke, Suzie Guenther, Keith Cameron, Ellyn Sinke, Carrie Rempel, Jacqueline Dalm and Wilma Sinke. This group officially holds the record for the fastest clean up time of 7:20pm!Mark your calendars for next month's FFFN - Fri Nov 25 in the ICS gym.
Youth groups, families, bible study groups, church groups and individuals are welcome to reserve your volunteer spot in the next FFFN by contacting the school office 519.773.8476 or emailing j.versnick@immanuelchristianschool.net

Volleyball: Team selection has now been done for the boys and girls teams. Extra, extra! Mrs Penny Bosma will be running an optional girls volleyball clinic on Thursday from 9-11 at ICS. Come on out and grow those skills, girls!

Cross Country: The junior and senior teams recently participated in the last meet of this year at Dundas Conservation Area.  It was a cold and miserable day outside (perfect running conditions), but our spirits were high nevertheless.  I was very proud of the runners’ efforts and enthusiasm and when the official results are emailed to me I will let the runners know. Thank you to all the parents who helped volunteer to drive for practices and those who cheered us on along the way!

Private Music Lessons: Guitar Lessons are now also available at Immanuel with Guy Miskelly. Rock, Blues, Country, Jazz, Theory and Ear Training. For more information contact Guy Miskelly at 519-859-6915 or guymiskelly.com
