From the Principal’s Desk:
For our Committees and for myself, this time of year is budget time, as we prepare submissions for next year to our Finance Committee. We ask questions about what we need to sustain and grow our school. How many new families will enrol for next year? Do we replace a bus (or two)? Should we invest in a proper school database instead of multiple unlinked spreadsheets? What is our priority and plan to repay our debt incurred in fostering our growth over the past few years? Should we add an ECE to maintain a high-quality JK program alongside a 5-day SK program? Do we go for a student activity fee, or keep with chocolate bars, small fees throughout the year and other fundraisers? What is our role as a school as a partner with our families, and what resources are needed? What is an idea for now, and what isn’t? What should we do more of? Less of? With every budget, there are a set of values represented. The real questions are: What things do we value at ICS? And, where is God leading us as His school? The cost of Christian education in the province of Ontario is not cheap. But the value is immense. “Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it” (Pr 22:6, NIV). Our roadside sign declares that ICS partners with families in raising children. Our mission declares that we do that “with an excellent elementary program and a focus on Christian character growth!” Please keep our Finance Committee and Board in prayer as we seek to follow God’s leading in planning the coming year.
In Christian education, Keith Cameron, Principal and Chief Operating Officer
Praying for our parents: Please join us as we pray for Randy and Bettina Poortinga and Fred and Carrie Rempel.
