From the Principal’s Desk:
A few words on “Reformation Day”: As a Christian school community, we want to speak into all aspects of life. We also acknowledge that our convictions may lead to different decisions in how we act. One of these differences is Oct 31. As a school, we choose to recognize Reformation Day and Luther’s decision to pre-empt All Saints’ Day by nailing his 95 theses to the Wittenberg church door. Did you know that 2017 marks the 500th anniversary of a renewed focus on the Bible as our guide in faith and life, and an emphasis on salvation through grace (Eph 2:8)? As a school, we neither support nor condemn Halloween activities, leaving those decisions where they belong with parents. Knowing that sugar and food colouring make for poor learning, please ensure lunches are reasonably healthy next week still, and please avoid sending in “extra” candy to share!

Enjoy the “long weekend” while our teachers have the chance to join with hundreds of Christian educators from across the province at Redeemer University for worship, inspiration and encouragement at our annual teachers’ convention. We greatly value this time that you give us, parents - thank-you!

Yours in Christian education, Keith Cameron, Principal and Chief Operating Officer
Each week, during staff devotions we join in prayer for our parents and staff members. We invite you to do so as well.
Farewell: to Harold and Robin Winter as Abigail (gr 5) transfers to homeschool on Oct 25. We may still have some home-school connections around art, music or phys ed, and we remain part of the same faith community. We will miss you in our classes, Abigail!
Praying for our parents: Please pray for Brett & Tara Foster and Jim & Helen Friesen.
Prayers would also be appreciated for Lydia Loewen’s father Tony Loewen, for his body to be healed of pain and cancer. For all of the family to stand strong in faith and to trust God in this storm.
Praying for our staff: Please pray for our Health & Phys Ed teacher, Mr. TenBruggencate.

REMINDERS:
T.R.I.P: The next order will be sent out on Nov 2nd.
Picture Day: Absentee picture day will now take place on Nov 21st.

Raise to Praise Campaign:  Immanuel Christian School has launched its Raise to Praise Campaign for the month of November.  We are excited about the future of our school and what God has in store for the families and friends who believe in our mission and want to partner with us on our journey.  You should receive all the information to prayerfully consider your partnership with Immanuel Christian School and we look forward to discussing this with you on November 1st during our Call Campaign from 6:30-9:00.
If you did not receive a package, kindly call or email the school office and we would be happy to send this out.  Thanks so much for your prayers, support, and faithfulness to Immanuel Christian School.  We are so grateful to everyone who makes Christian Education a possibility for our children. Janine Shelton, on behalf of the Finance Committee.

November 29th, Fall Membership Meeting: The Community Care Committee would like to provide a Mexican style snack with a bit of a challenge to all ICS families who make their own homemade salsa. If you are willing to submit your salsa along with your name and recipe, we will have a salsa tasting contest to all those in attendance.
